Look somewhere different for your next game-changing idea

I had a response from a client to the article about counter intuition. They asked what would be the opposite to the cleaning industry and how could they apply the counter intuitive method to this industry. Here's what I wrote:

"Opposite to the cleaning industry might be something like the demolition industry where they create a whole lot of mess, or perhaps the storage industry where people seem to store all their junk now a days (storage industry is a huge growth industry at the moment - because everyone has so much junk).

So here's the point to the looking at an opposite industry. You'll get better innovation if you look in odd places- places that are unrelated to your industry, it doesn't have to be an exact opposite. You might think of some of the processes they use in demolition for example and see how you could apply it in your world. Key detonations in key areas = Identify the key critical cleaning points and make it the priority point. Create a priority map based on this thinking.

Become curious in other worlds and industries and the ideas will start coming."
